City of Brighton issued the following announcement on July 24.

The Brighton Recreation Center is pleased to announce it now has the capability to ensure guest and staff safety through touchless temperature checks and free face coverings. These precautionary measures will help ensure the Rec Center is in accordance with the state’s July 16 COVID-19 mandate requiring face coverings in indoor public spaces, while the temperature test will provide a layer of screening.

Adults and children who would like to enter the building will be directed to a temperature check kiosk that takes only seconds to accurately determine an individual’s temperature. Anyone who registers results of 100.4-degrees or higher will be asked to exit the facility and either wait five minutes to retake their temperature or return another day when their temperature reads below the 100.4-degree threshold.

Staff and guests over the age of 10 years old (except those who cannot medically tolerate a face covering) will also be required to wear a face covering inside the Rec Center (face coverings will be provided for those who need one). This requirement applies during fitness classes, pick-up basketball games, and pickleball, with the exception of BOGA and swimming. However, you must put a face covering back on while you are not swimming but in the pool area.

These changes are effective beginning at 6 a.m. on July 27.
