Westminster Public Schools announced on April 6 that students are preparing for the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) testing. The district offered advice to help students and their families navigate the testing period.

The CMAS tests are an important part of assessing what students have learned during the school year. Westminster Public Schools said that while some may feel nervous about testing, there is no need to worry.

For students, the district suggested several strategies to prepare for a successful test week. These include getting eight to ten hours of sleep before each test day, eating a healthy breakfast with protein and whole grains, using breathing techniques such as the “Four Square” method when feeling overwhelmed, and taking time to carefully read each question without rushing through the exam.

Parents and guardians were also given recommendations on how to support their children during this period. The district advised keeping mornings positive and stress-free, maintaining familiar routines at home, offering encouragement rather than pressure, and planning a small celebration after testing is complete.

The guidance aims to help both students and families approach CMAS week with confidence. Westminster Public Schools emphasized that these tests are just one way for students to demonstrate what they know.
