The Colorado College men's and women's soccer teams earned the Team Academic Award from the United Soccer Coaches for their superior performance in the classroom during the 2021-22 academic year.
Colorado College is one of only 130 schools across all NCAA divisions to have both teams recognized for maintaining a minimum 3.0 cumulative team GPA on a 4.0 scale.
The men's team received the award for the 16th year in a row and the 22nd time overall. The Tigers posted a combined 3.61 grade-point average, which ranked 11th among the 220 men's teams across all divisions.
CC also had the sixth-highest GPA in Division III and was first in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference for the '21-22 academic year.
"I am really proud of this group and all the previous teams I have coached at CC," head coach Scott Palguta said. "Their consistency in the classroom has been truly outstanding. We continue to earn this award year after year, so it has become a standard of expectation within the program.
Colorado College is one of only six men's programs among all NCAA Divisions to earn the honor at least 22 times since it was first presented in 1996. Bucknell University ranks first with 24 awards. Anderson University and Carleton College are tied for second with 23, followed by CC, Haverford College and the University of Pennsylvania, all tied for fourth with 22.
Meanwhile, the women's team earned the Team Academic Award after posting a 3.52 grade-point average during the academic year.
The Tigers were one of only four Mountain West teams to receive the award, and tied Utah State for the highest GPA within the conference.
"We are proud of the effort the student-athletes put in to perform not only on the field but also in the classroom," head coach Keri Sanchez said. "They all have high aspirations for what they plan to do post-soccer and are committed to their schoolwork. With this level of success in their studies, their futures are bright."
