27J School District recently issued the following announcement.
October 19th to the 23rd is National Bus Safety Week! School bus transportation plays a critical role in the education of our students, serving as a direct link between a neighborhood and a classroom. National School Bus Safety Week serves as a reminder for students, parents, teachers, and the community to keep school bus safety in the forefront. This year’s theme for bus safety week is, “Red Lights Mean STOP!”
When you see a yellow school bus, always expect to see children. If the bus is slowing down and the lights begin to flash, be prepared to stop. Red flashing lights and extended stop arms indicate that the bus has stopped, and that children are getting on or off. Motorists must stop their cars and wait until the red lights stop flashing, the extended stop sign is withdrawn, and the bus begins moving again before they can start driving again.
Let’s keep our students safe, by making sure that we always STOP on RED!
