Adams 14 School District issued the following announcement on Aug. 26.
Adams 14 students proudly named the new playground at Veterans Memorial Park the “Eagles Nest Playground,” and attended a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2020.
In partnership with Adams 14, the City of Commerce City Parks and Recreation department posted a ‘playground-naming contest’ on the Adams 14 Facebook page to solicit name ideas for the new playground. After submitting their entries, students then voted to name the park with a nod to the Adams City High School Eagles.
Eagles Nest Playground, the city's first all-inclusive playground, is located next to the Eagle Pointe Recreation Center and the District Educational Support Services building. The playground is centered around themes of nature, fun and includes a labyrinth for meditation and reflection. Lisa Nordholt, of the City Parks and Recreation Department, said, “It’s notable that five different students suggested the name Eagles Nest Playground.”
We are proud of our Adams 14 students for playing a part in the naming of a playground which will be enjoyed by citizens for many years to come!
