The Colorado Rapids began their 2026 preseason with a match against Nashville SC in Florida. This game marked the first appearance for newly appointed Head Coach Matt Wells, who selected a starting lineup that included Zack Steffen, Jackson Travis, Lucas Herrington, Rob Holding, Reggie Cannon, Wayne Frederick, Cole Bassett, Sydney Wathuta, Alex Harris, Dante Sealy, and Darren Yapi.

The Rapids started strong with early attacking chances. They took the lead in the 16th minute after Cole Bassett set up Darren Yapi for a goal. Dante Sealy also contributed to the attack during this period.

Defensively, Colorado held firm until the 36th minute when Hany Mukhtar of Nashville SC equalized. The teams went into halftime tied. For the second half, both sides changed lineups. The Rapids’ new group featured Nico Hansen, Sam Vines, Ian Murphy, Noah Cobb, Keegan Rosenberry, Connor Ronan, Josh Atencio, Paxten Aaronson, Kimani Stewart-Baynes, Rafael Navarro, and Alexis Manyoma.

Nashville scored soon after play resumed and added another goal in the 67th minute to secure a 3-1 win. Despite efforts from Colorado’s second-half squad to create more attacking opportunities, they were unable to score again.

Bryce Jamison made his debut for the Rapids during this match by coming on as a substitute in both halves.

Colorado will continue their preseason camp in Florida. Their next scrimmage is scheduled against Columbus Crew on February 7. The upcoming match will be closed-door without livestreaming; fans are encouraged to follow updates through the team’s official social media channels.
