The Colorado Rapids will continue their road campaign with a match against Sporting Kansas City on March 21. The game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Mountain Time at Sporting Park, with coverage available on Apple TV, Altitude Sports Radio, Tico Sports Spanish Radio, ColoradoRapids.com, and the Colorado Rapids app.
This matchup comes as the Rapids look to recover from a recent loss and maintain momentum early in the season. Meanwhile, Sporting Kansas City aims to build on their first win of the year.
Last weekend, Colorado traveled to New York City FC at Yankee Stadium. Despite controlling much of the match, the Rapids were defeated 3-1. Darren Yapi scored his second goal of the season for Colorado off an assist from Rafael Navarro. Navarro’s performance has brought him close to club history; with two goals so far this season, he is just one away from tying Chris Henderson and Cole Bassett for sixth-most goals in club history at 31.
Sporting Kansas City enters Saturday’s contest after a 2-1 victory over LA Galaxy. Lasse Johnsen and new forward Dejan Joveljić scored for SKC. Joveljić has made an impact since joining during the offseason, recording three goals and one assist in four appearances.
With an international break approaching, this will be Colorado’s last match before facing Toronto FC on April 4. Several Rapids players have received international call-ups: Lucas Herrington was selected for Australia’s Senior Men’s National Team; Darren Yapi and Noah Cobb were called up to the U.S. Under-21 team; Bryce Jamison was chosen for the U.S. Under-20 squad.
