The Colorado Rapids will host FC Dallas on May 23 in their last Major League Soccer match before the FIFA World Cup break. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. MT kickoff at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park, with coverage available through Apple TV, Altitude Sports Radio, Tico Sports Spanish Radio, ColoradoRapids.com, and the Colorado Rapids app.
This match comes as the Rapids aim to continue their momentum following a midweek victory in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinals. After defeating teams from USL League One and USL Championship earlier in the tournament, Colorado secured a 2-0 win over MLS side San Jose Earthquakes to reach the semifinals for the first time since 1999. Darren Yapi and Navarro scored for Colorado while Nico Hansen earned his second clean sheet in three U.S. Open Cup appearances.
In recent league play, Colorado experienced mixed results last week with both a win and a loss on the road. The team defeated Minnesota United FC 1-0 thanks to Rafael Navarro’s goal but fell short against Real Salt Lake with a 2-1 loss.
FC Dallas has won three of its last four matches ahead of Saturday’s contest. Like Colorado, Dallas recently defeated San Jose Earthquakes in an away match that ended 3-2 after Sam Sarver scored during stoppage time. Sarver has now scored his first three career MLS goals within his past four appearances.
After Saturday’s fixture, Major League Soccer will pause for the FIFA World Cup and resume regular season play in mid-July. The Rapids are set to return on July 22 against San Diego FC at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park.
