The Colorado Rapids have acquired forward Dante Sealy from CF Montréal in a trade, the club announced. In exchange, the Rapids will send $1.9 million in General Allocation Money (GAM) to Montréal, with an additional $600,000 possible if performance-based incentives are met. The GAM will be distributed over two seasons, with $1.15 million sent in 2026 and $750,000 in 2027. Montréal may retain a percentage of any future transfer fee should Sealy be sold above a certain amount.

“We are excited to bring a talent like Dante into our squad,” said Colorado Rapids President Pádraig Smith. “His experience within the league and in Europe combined with a clinical eye for goal and strong athletic profile will add greatly to our attacking group.”

Sealy, who is 22 years old, comes to Colorado after his best season yet at CF Montréal in 2025. He set personal records with nine goals and two assists over 30 games played and 28 starts, totaling 2,426 minutes on the field. In the last nine games of the MLS regular season, he scored six goals and provided one assist.

“Delighted to bring Dante in,” said Rapids Head Coach Matt Wells. “He adds a new dimension to the squad with his ability to dominate in one v. one situations and he gives us left-footed balance in the front half of the pitch. We believe he will help us attack and press in different ways. In our conversations, I was very impressed with his drive and ambition – he’s the exact personality we want to bring into the group.”

Sealy began his professional career at FC Dallas by signing a Homegrown contract in February 2019 after developing through their academy system. He debuted in MLS on September 9, 2020, playing four seasons for Dallas where he scored two goals and recorded one assist over 38 appearances. From 2021 to 2023, Sealy spent time on loan at PSV Eindhoven U-21s in the Netherlands, making 57 appearances and scoring six goals.

Internationally, Sealy has represented both United States youth teams—U16 through U20—and is now eligible for Trinidad and Tobago’s senior national team alongside current Rapid Wayne Frederick. On June 2, 2025 during his international debut against St. Kitts and Nevis in FIFA World Cup Qualifying play, Sealy scored twice; he now has ten caps (nine starts) and four goals for Trinidad & Tobago.

Earlier in his career after signing as a homegrown player with Dallas, Sealy also played for North Texas SC of USL League One during their title-winning season where he appeared nineteen times with one goal and three assists.

The official transaction details state: Colorado Rapids acquire forward Dante Sealy from CF Montréal via trade in exchange for $1.9 million GAM plus up to $600k additional GAM based on incentives spread across two seasons; Montréal retains possible sell-on rights if transferred above an agreed amount.
