The Colorado Rapids will travel to face Los Angeles Football Club on April 22, beginning a double matchweek at BMO Stadium. The Rapids, currently eighth in the Western Conference with four wins and four losses, are set for an 8:30 p.m. MT kickoff. Coverage will be available through Apple TV, Altitude Sports Radio, ColoradoRapids.com, and the Colorado Rapids app.
This matchup follows a notable weekend for the Rapids, who played their 30th Anniversary Match against Inter Miami CF at Empower Field at Mile High. The event drew a crowd of 75,824 spectators—the second-highest attendance in Major League Soccer history. Only the July 2, 2023 game between LA Galaxy and LAFC had more fans in attendance with over 82,000. Saturday’s turnout surpassed Colorado’s previous club record of just over 60,500 set in July 2001.
During Saturday’s game against Inter Miami CF—the reigning MLS Cup champions—the Rapids overcame a two-goal deficit after halftime with goals from Rafael Navarro and Homegrown player Darren Yapi. Despite leveling the scoreline early in the second half, Lionel Messi secured victory for Miami late in the game.
Navarro’s performance continued his strong season; his sixth goal of the year puts him third among all players league-wide so far this season. He now has ten goal contributions—six goals and four assists—tying him for most overall contributions this year across Major League Soccer matches.
The team has shown especially strong attacking form at home this season by scoring twelve goals across three league games while conceding only three—a new club record for most goals scored through three home matches since surpassing their previous best set in 1996.
Looking ahead to Wednesday’s contest with LAFC—currently third place in the Western Conference—Colorado faces an opponent that started its campaign unbeaten but is coming off back-to-back losses to Portland and San Jose where they conceded six total goals.
