The Colorado Rapids lost 1-0 to Houston Dynamo FC on May 3 in a Major League Soccer match at Shell Energy Stadium.
The result marks a setback for the Rapids, who were aiming to repeat their earlier season success against Houston. The team had previously defeated the Dynamo with a decisive 6-2 victory at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park.
Both teams played strong defense during the first half, resulting in few chances and no goals before halftime. The Rapids controlled most of the possession but were unable to create clear scoring opportunities. After halftime, Colorado nearly took the lead through combination play from Darren Yapi and Dante Sealy, but their effort was stopped by Houston’s goalkeeper.
Houston scored the only goal of the game in the 72nd minute when Lawrence Ennali struck following a corner kick. Despite making several substitutions and creating more chances late in the match, Colorado could not find an equalizer.
The Rapids will now prepare for their next fixture against St. Louis CITY SC on Saturday, May 9 at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park. The match is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. MT kickoff and will be available on Apple TV, Altitude Sports Radio, Tico Sports Spanish Radio, as well as through the Colorado Rapids app and website.
Looking ahead, Colorado will aim to improve their position in Western Conference standings after this defeat.
