The Colorado Rapids lost 3-1 to Vancouver Whitecaps FC at BC Place on April 26. The match saw Rafael Navarro reach his 50th regular-season goal contribution for the club.
The result matters as it marks both a challenging stretch for the Rapids—playing their fourth game in twelve days—and a personal achievement for Navarro, who became just the eighth player in club history to reach this milestone.
Vancouver started strong, scoring twice in the first half. Cheikh Sabaly opened the scoring in the seventh minute after receiving a pass from Thomas Müller. Brian White added another goal for Vancouver in the 23rd minute off a breakaway chance. The Rapids responded by increasing possession and pressure, leading to their only goal of the night when Hamzat Ojediran sent a long ball forward to Georgi Minoungou, whose cross eventually found Navarro after several deflections. This marked Navarro’s eleventh goal contribution (seven goals and four assists) over his last nine matches and his fiftieth overall with Colorado.
Despite continued attacking efforts from Colorado throughout the second half, they were unable to score again. Vancouver sealed their victory late in the match with another goal from White.
Looking ahead, Colorado will turn its attention to an upcoming Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match against Colorado Springs Switchbacks on Wednesday, April 29 at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park.
