Colorado Rapids announced on Apr. 28 that defender Rob Holding has received a U.S. Green Card and will now be considered a domestic player for the club.
This change is important because Major League Soccer teams have a limited number of international roster slots, and Holding’s new status provides Colorado with more flexibility in managing its squad.
Holding, who was born in Stalybridge, England, joined the Rapids in August 2025 after playing for Crystal Palace Football Club. The current season is his first full campaign with Colorado, during which he has appeared in 12 matches across all competitions.
A Green Card grants an individual lawful permanent residency in the United States. According to Major League Soccer rules, this means Holding will no longer count as an international player on the team’s roster.
With this development, Colorado Rapids can use their available international slots for other players while retaining Holding as part of their core lineup.
