Colorado Rapids defender Lucas Herrington has been called up to the Australian Men’s National Team for the upcoming FIFA international window, according to a March 20 announcement. Herrington will join the Socceroos as they prepare to face Cameroon and Curaçao in friendly matches.
This call-up is Herrington’s first selection to the senior national team. The matches against Cameroon on March 27 in Sydney and Curaçao on March 31 in Melbourne are Australia’s final fixtures before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Herrington, who is 18 years old, is currently in his debut Major League Soccer season with Colorado. He has made four appearances for the Rapids and scored his first MLS goal during his home debut against Portland on February 28. His performance earned him a spot on the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 2.
Before joining Colorado, Herrington played for Brisbane Roar in Australia’s A-League Men, making 29 appearances and scoring two goals after signing with their first team in September 2024. He made his professional debut on December 14, 2024, starting against Western Sydney Wanderers.
Herrington began his football career with Brisbane Roar Youth in 2023 after time with Taringa Rovers and Toowong FC academies. At youth international level, he has represented Australia at U-18, U-19, and U-20 levels. He played four times for the U-19s at the ASEAN U-19 Boys Championship in 2024 where Australia finished third, featured in seven matches for the U-20s including being part of the squad that won the AFC U-20 Asian Cup in 2025, and also earned four caps with the U-18s.

Getting that first call-up to the senior squad is recognition of the hard work he’s put in here, but also of the work we’re all doing here, and the way that we’re playing has allowed him to show his potential and abilities.”
