Colorado Rapids defeat Orlando City SC to close out preseason

The Colorado Rapids concluded their preseason with a 4-1 win against Orlando City SC. Striker Rafael Navarro scored twice, while Darren Yapi and Lucas Herrington each added goals in the second half.

Paxten Aaronson assisted Navarro’s first goal in the 19th minute. Yapi set up Navarro for his second goal in the 37th minute. In the second half, Yapi scored his own goal in the 63rd minute, marking his second of the preseason. Herrington recorded his first goal for the Rapids late in the match by heading in a corner from Aaronson.

The starting lineup included Zack Steffen, Keegan Rosenberry, Noah Cobb, Lucas Herrington, Jackson Travis, Josh Atencio, Hamzat Ojediran, Darren Yapi, Paxten Aaronson, Dante Sealy and Rafael Navarro. Substitutes were Nico Hansen, Bryce Jamison and Mamadou Billo Diop.

The Rapids will begin their regular season next Sunday against Seattle Sounders at Lumen Field. The match is scheduled for February 22 at 7:15 p.m. MT and will be broadcast on Apple TV and FS1.

Colorado Rapids to host St. Louis CITY SC in U.S. Open Cup Semifinals September 16

The Colorado Rapids will face St. Louis CITY SC at home in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Semifinals on September 16, following victories over San Jose Earthquakes and other clubs en route to this stage. Tickets will be offered first to season ticket members before being released to general public.
