Brian Crookham, Director of Player Personnel for the Colorado Rapids, has been inducted into the Colorado Soccer Hall of Fame. The announcement was made by the Colorado Soccer Association in recognition of Crookham’s longstanding contributions to soccer and player development within the state.

“I’m incredibly honored to be recognized by the Colorado Soccer Hall of Fame,” said Crookham. “The Colorado Soccer community has provided me with opportunities for growth throughout my career, and I am grateful for the players, coaches, referees, administrators, friends and family that have been a part of this journey with me.”

Crookham began his full-time role with the Rapids in 2007 as Director of Coaching for the Rapids Academy. Since then, he has played a central role in shaping player development at all levels within the club. He helped establish an integrated pathway allowing players to move from academy teams through Rapids 2 and into Major League Soccer via the Homegrown Player program.

Over nearly twenty years with the organization, Crookham contributed significantly to building and maintaining a system that supports long-term growth and provides advancement opportunities for players within the club.

In 2025, Crookham was named MLS NEXT Pro Executive of the Year following his leadership during a season where Rapids 2 won its first Western Conference championship and reached its inaugural MLS NEXT Pro Cup Final. As General Manager of Rapids 2, he guided them to their first trophy since joining MLS NEXT Pro in 2022.

Outside professional soccer, Crookham spent nine years at Metropolitan State College of Denver as Head Men’s Soccer Coach and Assistant Athletic Director. During his tenure there, he helped elevate their men’s soccer program to national prominence in NCAA Division II competition.

“Brian’s impact on soccer in Colorado cannot be overstated,” said Colorado Rapids President Pádraig Smith. “For decades, he has shaped the game in this state through his leadership, mentorship, and commitment to developing players at every level, from the collegiate ranks to ODP and into the professional game. Countless young people have been positively influenced not only as athletes, but as individuals, because of Brian’s guidance. This Hall of Fame recognition is a fitting tribute to the enduring legacy he has built within the Colorado soccer community.”

Alongside his collegiate coaching career, Crookham worked extensively with youth programs including serving fourteen years as coach within Colorado’s Olympic Development Program (ODP) and acting as boys’ ODP Technical Director when Colorado secured its first national ODP championship in 2004. He later held positions with Colorado Youth Soccer Association overseeing ODP operations and contributing to statewide coaching education efforts.

Crookham’s induction highlights his influence both within professional ranks at Colorado Rapids and across broader youth development initiatives throughout Colorado.
