Matt Wells, along with new coaching staff members Alastair Harris and Rob Burch, will manage their first home match for the Colorado Rapids at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park on Saturday. The team faces the Portland Timbers in what marks the Rapids’ second game of the Major League Soccer season.
Four players who made their debut for Colorado last week—Dante Sealy, Hamzat Ojediran, Lucas Herrington, and Miguel Navarro—remain in this weekend’s lineup. Of these, Sealy, Ojediran, and Herrington started in the previous match. Rob Holding and Alex Harris are included in the starting eleven for the first time this season. Harris previously entered as a substitute during last week’s game against Seattle; this will be his first start in an MLS regular season match.
Striker Rafael Navarro is close to reaching a club milestone. With 29 career goals for Colorado, he is one goal away from tying Dominique Badji for eighth place on the club’s all-time scoring list.
Goalkeeper Zack Steffen continues as team captain after wearing the armband against Seattle. He currently ranks seventh on the Rapids’ all-time goalkeeping appearance chart with 56 matches played and is three appearances behind Marcus Hahnemann, who sits sixth.
The match will take place at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Mountain Time. Fans can watch live coverage on Apple TV or listen via Altitude Sports Radio. Updates will also be available through @ColoradoRapids social media channels and the Rapids App.
