The Colorado Rapids will look to secure back-to-back home wins as they prepare to host the LA Galaxy on Saturday, March 7. The match at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. MT and will be available on Apple TV, Altitude Sports Radio, Tico Sports Spanish Radio, ColoradoRapids.com, and the Colorado Rapids app.
In their previous home game, the Rapids rebounded from an opening loss to the Seattle Sounders with a 2-0 victory over the Portland Timbers. Midfielder Hamzat Ojediran opened the scoring with a long-range shot that deflected off a defender. Lucas Herrington, an 18-year-old newcomer, added a second goal in the 53rd minute with a header. The win marked Head Coach Matt Wells’ first since taking charge of the team during the offseason.
Herrington’s performance earned him his first selection to MLS’s “Team of the Matchday,” being named among the starting eleven for his efforts against Portland.
LA Galaxy arrive in Colorado after starting their season with a draw against NYCFC and a decisive 3-0 win over Charlotte FC. They also progressed past Sporting San Miguelito in this year’s Concacaf Champions Cup by winning on aggregate.
Last season, both teams won their respective home matches when facing each other. At DICK’S Sporting Goods Park, Colorado defeated LA Galaxy 2-0 with Nico Hansen recording a clean sheet. Historically, LA Galaxy have led in overall regular season meetings between these two clubs; however, Colorado holds an advantage at home with a record of 22 wins, 14 losses, and seven draws against LA.
